Friendly Feilding is the hub of the Manawatu District. The District has a population of over 28,000 with some 14,000 living in Feilding.

On numerous occasions Feilding has been selected as New Zealand's most beautiful town. The town is well located just 19 kms from Palmerston North (population 75,000) and is only two hours drive from Wellington, and two and a half hours drive from New Plymouth,Taupo and Napier, in the beautiful Hawkes Bay. It is also less than two hours from the Mount Ruapehu ski feilds.

Feilding was first established in 1874 and has grown into a relatively prosperous community while retaining much of its heritage value. Under Feilding's 'Mainstreet' programme many property owners have restored and preserved buildings in late Victorian and Ewardian styles.

The original 1903 Town Clock was recently restored and operated as a new heritage tower from midnight on 31 December 1999, the start of the new millenium.

Feilding is also the home of Manfield Park, New Zealand's premier motor car and bike racing circuit. You need to book your accommodation at Feilding Holiday Park well in advance when major race track events are scheduled.

Feilding provides a wide range of shopping and services including a Warehouse discount store, three supermarkets, a range of specialty shops, restaurants and fast food outlets, banking, travel agents, and medical services.

The main shopping area radiates from Manchester Square and the town promotes free parking while you shop. And when you need a rest from shopping you can enjoy refreshments or a meal at numerous cafes, a la carte restaurants and bars catering for all tastes and all budgets.

The Feilding Visitors Centre is located near the clock tower.
