Nearby attractions to Mahia Beach Motels & Holiday Park

Mahia is our own little piece of paradise but we are ready to share it with you.
Mahia is an hour south of Gisborne or two hours north of Napier. It's a great place to spend a day or two – or a couple of weeks if you make the time.

Mahia has the best golden beaches for so far each way that it doesn't matter. Wherever the weather is coming from there's always a sheltered corner. The Opoutama beach is a five kilometre long crescent of sand to the beach settlement of Mahia Beach. To the north an even longer beach connects Mahanga on the mainland with the peninsula.

Head further out to Mahia's northern coastline where one little cove after another lies separated by an unique series of rocky reef.

There is a dairy at Morere, Nuhaka, Opoutama, Mahia Beach and Te Mahia, so if you forget your lunch there's no question of starving in the wilderness.

And there's the whole Pacific Ocean beckoning. Mahia is a popular haunt for divers, boaties, surfers, yachties, and wind surfers. And at the end of the day walk along the beach, watch the sunset, then the moon, rise out of the sea and you'll agree with us – it's paradise found!
