Te Puru offers the best of both worlds – the raw beauty of natural pebble and sand beaches and bush settings, with prolific fishing areas; and for those who hanker for a faster pace of life, Thames is just 15 minutes away with plenty of café and shopping options.

With the Hauraki Gulf a breeding ground for snapper, kahawai, kingfish, scallops and mussels, Te Puru is a major drawcard for keen fishers. A boat ramp is conveniently located just around corner from Te Puru Holiday Park, and further along is Waikawau, with a sheltered fresh water stream launch and retrieve boat ramp, making boating very safe and easy. And if you don't have a boat, there is still really good fishing off the beach. Locals also have great success fishing from kayaks.

Just a few minutes walk from Te Puru Holiday Park is a fresh water swimming hole – the perfect way to stay cool on a hot day and a popular spot for families. Or enjoy the beach and all that it offers, situated within 100m of the camp. For parents who prefer fresh, shallow water for their younger children, the camp borders a stream – an idyllic place to rest and enjoy the scenery.

Thames is a short drive (15 mins) and boasts Goldfields Shopping Centre, cafes, movies and restaurants. The area has a rich history, including goldmining, and there’s plenty of charming options to explore.
